Handmade bows, arrows and forged iron work made to order

What we can offer to schools

In support of history at Key Stage 3, we can cover the period of history spanning the Hundred Years war 1337 to 1453 including the War of the Roses.

We will recreate everyday activities from the period to act as a backdrop to demonstrations of the skills and activities that fed, clothed, housed and entertained the lives of medieval people.
Using events from this period and linking them to locations around the school we can recreate history to show how people were governed and allow pupils to interact and play key roles in the production.

Activities we offer:

Learning how to cook medieval food

The pupils bring food to school and we will prepare a medieval meal over an open fire. We will send you a recipe beforehand .

A Medieval Law Court

We will set up a court with a Shire-Reeve [Sheriff] where the pupils can settle disputes. What happens when two parts don’t agree? The pupils play the parts – The accused and the plaintiffs. The pupils write their own scripts beforehand.

History Talks

The school/teacher can request a subject from The Middle Ages they want us to talk about. Please send the request in good time before the school visit.

How to make bows and arrows, and have a go at blacksmithing

We have a professional blacksmith that will teach the pupils to make arrowheads like a blacksmith would do in the Middle Ages. The pupils will also be taught how to make arrows and bows. There can also be made an request for what to make at the blacksmithing.

Archery Course

We will show the pupils military archery as they did in the Middle Ages. The pupils will also learn to shoot with a long bow. We take great care in safety and also provide protection gears for the arms and hands.
